A Walking Travesty!!

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamu'alaikum, y'all!!

Well, after wallowing for a day and a 4 hour-sleep in daylight yesterday, I finally got the chance to update on the Champions League news.  As some of you might know, and I think you all do, Manchester United lost 2-1 in the 2nd leg of last 16 of the UEFA Champions League yesterday against Real Madrid.  The aggregate was 3-2 to Real Madrid.

In the 1st half, Real dominated possession-wise.  United however, had less of it but made the best of it, creating lots of chances.  Nemanja Vidic hit the post with a header from an RVP corner.  Danny Welback and RVP also had chances but Real's goalkeeper, Diego Lopez made a lot of saves...For the whole game actually.

In the 2nd half, United got the lead after 48 minutes with a Sergio Ramos own goal.  Nani, United's no. 17 slid the ball in and an accidental tap of the foot caused Real a temporary setback.

In around the 50-something minutes, a clash between the no. 17s, Nani and Alvaro Arbeloa, the both took quite a hit.  Arbeloa especially.  Nani was going for the ball but Arbeloa took the ball and Nani wasn't able to pull his feet back.  His studs hit Arbeloa's rib area.  If you asked me, it was all unintentional.  But guess what............

HE WAS SENT OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He was clearly going for the ball.  After the match, Arbeloa even said that Nani didn't even see him coming.  He was focused on the ball.

Let's see the reaction of some football stars on Twitter shall we?

I saw 3 of the tweets above.  Outraged!!  It was a bloody travesty!!

After the sending off, Real took advantage of the 10-men United and goals from Luka Modric and of course, Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the win.

That stupid reff ruined the greatest match of the season.  No doubt.  After the final whistle, United players swarmed the reff in protest.  Can't say I blame them.  I bet he will get a lot of death threats for the next few weeks.  Maybe months.  I'd REEEEEALLY like that.

No use talking about that now.  United have the FA Cup to worry about where they will be taking on Chelsea this Monday at midnight and that mouthwatering quarter final at Old Trafford.  And the BPL of course where they are at the top with a 12-point gap.

In other news, German side Borussia Dortmund managed a 3-0 win against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and go through to the QFs with a (5-2 aggregate).  Paris Saint-Germain also go through despite a 1-1 draw against Valencia with a 3-2 aggregate.  Celtic lost tu Italian giants Juventus after a 2-0 defeat (5-0 aggregate).

Well, enough football for now.  Next week is the study week for me but I still have some assignments to do. My first paper for the finals are on the 20th of this month.  Electronics 2.

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: Congrats to United legend, Ryan Giggs for his 1000th senior appearance in football last night.
