Movie Review - Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw

Warning: Spoiler Alert

From the simple street races and thefts, this franchise began to become bolder and more outrageous. In a good or bad way, you decide. I'm talking about one of the summer's blockbuster hits, Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw.

(Image: imdb)
In Hobbs and Shaw, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham reprise their roles as DSS Agent Luke Hobbs and former UK Special Forces agent Deckard Shaw, respectively. Villains-turned-heroes, these characters certainly impressed in the Fast and Furious (F&F) series. With the introduction of Idris Elba (as Brixton Lore) as the new baddie, high-octane action is definitely guaranteed. One of the good things of this spin-off is, despite still being in the F&F universe, you can say that it detaches itself from the other films as none of the main roles from the other installments are in this one. Aside of course the two names in the title. But enough of the chit-chat, let's get right down to it, shall we?

Second Warning: Are you sure you wanna do this? Fine

(Image: Empire Online)
From the get-go, this movie gets your blood pumping. The action and explosions seem to come at every second. Hand-to-hand fight scenes there, gunshots here. Not forgetting the various chases done using cars and motorbikes and the helicopter scene at the end. Any action movie buff would love this film. Not only that, the banter and trash talk between Hobbs and Shaw is as entertaining as it is clever. Johnson even told in interviews that some of them are just ad-libbed on the spot just to see Statham's reaction and apparently one of them was used. What do you expect? You got two high-testosterone characters trying to outdo each other. But they don't just talk the talk. They definitely have the skills to back it up. That is until they come across Brixton Lore.

Idris Elba as Brixton Lore (Image: Collider)
Working for a cult that believes humankind is weak, Lore is a cybernetic super soldier/operative of the terror organisation Eteon. Armed with superior hand-to-hand combat abilities and what looks like ocular implants and other futuristic tech, Hobbs and Shaw may have found their match. After, framing Shaw's sister, Hattie, for murder and treason, Lore is hell-bent on retrieving the virus "Snowflake", a virus Hattie was suppose to get but injected it into herself to keep it away from Lore and Eteon.

Vanessa Kirby as Hattie Shaw (Image: Collider)
All of this is well and good but I'm just not buying it though. I mean, from humble beginnings like drag racing, F&F really turned the absurd dial up to 11. They dragged a big vault using 2 cars and a cable in Fast 5, took on a tank in Fast and Furious 6, and a computer program called "God's Eye" that doesn't know the meaning of "privacy" in Furious 7. Not to mention The Rock throwing a big torpedo in The Fate of the Furious. In this film you have cybernetic super soldiers you'd think belong in the MCU (that's a Captain America joke). It's like Star Wars got into the mix and they got a child you don't know to love or hate. Sounds harsh, I admit it. But hey, I love Star Wars. Personally, I don't mind it that much. But it won't hurt for them to maybe take it down a notch. To each his own, you know?

Despite the over-the-top plot and story, this movie makes it up with one of the major themes of the movie: FAMILY.

After injecting herself, Hattie at first reluctantly let big brother Deckard help her in extracting the Snowflake virus from her body. After Hobbs gets involved and the trio have knowhere to hide, they go back to Hobbs' roots. Somewhere Hobbs hasn't been for 20 years. Samoa.

What's sure about F&F is that family is a big theme in all of the installments. So this spin-off is no different. Buying time before Eteon comes for them, Hobbs asks his estranged brother for help. No surprises, brother Jonah (played by Cliff Curtis) isn't having any of it. None of the brothers including WWE superstar Roman Reigns, cast as Mateo Hobbs, wanted to do anything with it. That's what mothers are for. Mama Sefina Hobbs (played by Lori Pelenise Tuisano) still accepted his son back despite others believing he betrayed them. In this time in Samoa, viewers get to dive deeper into Hobbs' backstory. Criminal father, turbulent relationship with the brothers. Surely enough, all of them patch things up when Eteon comes knocking. Hits you right in the feels. The Rock's pride in his heritage is further portrayed in this film as they fight Eteon using traditional Samoan weapons after Mama Hobbs threw the guns out. You get to here him do a Samoan battle cry too which is pretty cool.

To say that this movie is good is possibly an understatement. I think the ~$400 global earnings speaks for itself. If you're looking for an action-packed movie with witty banter and eye candy, this movie is perfect. You're gonna see a few cameo appearances too. Although, if you get too hung up on the details and think it's all too far-fetched, maybe you might not like it but I highly recommend it regardless. What other movie can you get 2 bona fide action stars fight "black Superman"? That said, I'd give this movie a solid...........

9/10

Now that that's done, I'm actually looking forward to "Angel Has Fallen" and "Zombieland: Double Tap"

The third Installment in the Fallen Series (Image: Lionsgate)

The Long Awaited sequel to 2009's Zombieland (Image: imdb)
Can't wait!

See you guys on the flipside!!

P.S: You guys might wanna stay for the post-credit scenes. There are 3 of them.

Movie Review - Ant-Man and the Wasp

In the name of Allah. The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum, y'all!!

"Maybe you just need someone watching your back. Like a partner."
~ Cassie Lang (Ant-Man and the Wasp) ~

5 months. Friggin' 5 months since my last post. What the frack?! Blame it on research and me procrastinating though. Anyway, it's been 5 months since my last post but it's been an even longer time since I did a movie review. So this time it's this movie........

Ant-Man and the Wasp poster

I'm in no way affiliated with anybody as I'm doing this review since I'm not a professional film critic but just a casual movie-goer. So this review may or may not contain spoilers since I'm pretty unclear what counts as a spoiler. Haha! Here we go....

Paul Rudd reprises his role as Ant-Man/Scott Lang from the 1st movie. The same goes for Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Evangeline Lilly (Hope van Dyne), Michael Peña (Luis), Ti (Dave) and David Dastmalchian (Kurt). Newcomers include Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix, CSI), Hannah John-Kamen (Ready Player One) and Michelle Pfeiffer (Mother!, Murder on the Orient Express) who plays Janet van Dyne, Hank's wife, Hope's mom.

Like it's predecessor, the movie has the quick-witted Scott Lang being in a rut in almost every moment of the movie. For instance, trying to be an awesome dad to his daughter Cassie while being 3 days from finishing his probation after getting arrested for being involved with Captain America (Captain America: Civil War). Hank, knowing that Scott returned from the quantum realm after going sub-atomic in the 1st movie, believes that his wife is still alive and that there is a chance to save her. So in a nutshell, that's sort of the basis of the film.

HOWEVER....

(There's always a 'however', isn't there?)

Things are never easy when you're a superhero. Hank, Scott and Hope face a new enemy in the form Ava Starr a.k.a Ghost who can phase through objects, making her a different kind of bad guy (or bad woman. I'm equal opportunity). She wants Hank's equipment to get Janet out of the quantum realm and suck the quantum energy out of her and cure herself from her condition, possibly killing Janet.

As if that's not enough the heroes face Sonny Burch played Walton Goggins (Shanghai Noon, Justified) who want to take Hank's tech and sell it on the black market. Have no fear though, Scott's got some back-up........

These 3 ex-cons (4 including Scott) are starting a security business but of course they have time to play the good guys. Michael Peña plays Luis the same as he did the first time: Fast-talking and funny as hell. Same goes for T.I and David Dastmalchian. I guess you can say they're like the comic-relief of the flick but they do their parts too.

I think what people were most looking forward to (at least I was anyway) was seeing Evangeline Lilly in that Wasp outfit. This seemed inevitable considering Hank showed Hope the suit at the end of the 1st movie.

Can we all just agree that Evangeline Lilly is SUPER pretty?

Anyway, the full introduction of the Wasp into the MCU is good considering that we actually KNEW the character was coming. It'd more awesome if none of us knew Hank made the suit for Hope and we suddenly see her fighting in it in the sequel. But hey, to each his own, innit?

So, can the heroes get Janet from the quantum realm? Can Ava cure herself? Or will Sonny get the best of them all and sell Hank's tech in the black market? I ain't telling you the rest of the movie so what the heck are you waiting for? Go see it!

I give "Ant-Man and the Wasp" an 8.5/10

Movie talk aside, I had a rough couple of months lately. I've been struggling physically, emotionally and mentally. I can't actually write it now and post it. I'm telling you, man. It's hard for me not to vent out and tell the world. It's even harder for me to call out the person(s) who did this to me. And yes, I'm talking about you. To think that the support and concern came from OUTSIDE this particular circle is sad for me.

And if ANYBODY who reads this even thinks of telling me, "Syauqi, take that post down" or even "Tak elok la kau buat blog entry macam tu", you CLEARLY don't know me. You have no idea what my strengths and weaknesses are. You have no idea what I bottle up inside. FOR MONTHS. YEARS even. So if you have issues with my posts, the door's open and PLEASE let it hit your ass on the way out.

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: As per usual, stay for the post-credit scenes. BOTH of them ;-)

Movie Review - Split

In the name of Allah. The Most Gracious. The Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum, y'all!!

"You will be in the presence of something greater. The world will understand now. The beast is real."
~ Kevin (Split) ~

Procrastination, man. It's quite the S.O.B. I watched Split on Wednesday but finally doing a little review right NOW.

Ever since I saw the trailer I was like "I HAVE to see this". I'm not much of a thriller/horror kind of guy when it comes to movies but I just thought I'd make this one an exception.

Basically, it's a movie about a man, Kevin (James McAvoy) who has dissociative identity disorder (DID). His "shrink" or psychiatrist, Dr. Fletcher (Betty Buckley) meets him whenever one of his identities contacts her.

His identities includes Dennis, a man with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder), Hedwig (no, not Harry Potter's owl), a 9 year-old boy and Barry, the stereotypical gay fashion designer. And these are just a few of the 23 identities.

3 girls are kidnapped after a birthday party and they slowly put together the pieces and figure out that their captor has DID. They meet some of his identities and try to manipulate one of them to their advantage but with no success and Kevin's identities isolated them. The identities are kept in checked by Dennis and Patricia, the dominant identities by saying that a 24th identity is about to surface. The grand poobah if you will.  The Beast. This identity prays on people who has things easy, those who don't know what it feels like to have scars. The 3 girls are sort of a sacrifice to The Beast when it emerges. So the 3 girls find a way to escape the identities or what it is dubbed later in the movie, "the horde". That's all I'm gonna say 'cause I don't wanna put any spoilers. Haha!

I'm a novice when it comes to movies of this genre so to those who wanna dabble in it, I recommend you go see it. M. Night Syamalan is quite the director when it comes to thrillers and that might just be an understatement 'cause I've just seen a few. You'll have that suspense and heart-pounding feeling since the beginning of the movie and sometimes you might even feel sorry for "the horde". Don't ask me why. Just go see the movie. Haha! James McAvoy in this movie I think did an amazing job portraying a man with 24 identities. Usually you have auditions where many people tryout for ONE character. Here's just ONE man playing 24 characters. Insane.

I think I'd give this...................

8/10

Oh btw, if you do watch this movie, you're gonna like the ending. You won't be disappointed

;-)

Gotta go. United's playing Wigan in the FA Cup!

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: Congratulations, Roger Federer on getting that elusive 18th grand slam title! Ladies and gentlemen, your 2017 Australian Open men's singles champion! I think I'd probably do a post on this tomorrow. Haha!

Movie Review - Suicide Squad

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum, y'all!

"We're bad guys. It's what we do"
~Harley Quinn (Suicide Squad)~

I know this is almost 2 weeks overdue but I DID tell you that I'll make a review, didn't I?

Suicide Squad, the worst ever heroes. The hype was on for about 2 years. And you know what? It was all worth it!!

For those of you who watch The Flash and/or Arrow (the latter especially), you'll probably know of Suicide Squad or as it is known officially as "Task Force X". Deadshot (Will Smith), Katana (Karen Fukuhara) and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney) have made their presence known to non-to-novice comic book enthusiasts by appearing on television. Even Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) made a few seconds' cameo. Although, the other "heroes" El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Slipknot (Christopher Weiss) and Colonel Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) made it known to others that they're part of the squad too.

Basically, the movie's about bad guys who are caught by an organization that deal with the worst criminals. Something bad happens, so Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), head of the organization known as ARGUS decide to setup the group of baddies in a project called "Task Force X".

Will Smith is proof that you just get better with age. His Deadshot portrayal is as badass a bad guy can be. Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn? It's just the perfect blend of hot, hilarious, serious and of course, CRAZY. And you can't mention Harley without mentioning The Clown Prince of Crime..............

Jared Leto played The Joker and I gotta be honest, I was really skeptical when news got out that he got cast as one of the most and probably THE most iconic villain in comic. BUT...with his screen time that I'd like to describe as "more than a cameo but less than a major role", I think he nailed it. I wonder what he can do if he'll be in the future Batman movie. Intriguing stuff, innit?

I know the film's got mixed reviews but most of them are on the positive side last I checked. And here's another one from me.

Guns blazing, bone-tickling and heart strings-pulling. I guess those are the words I use to describe the movie. Who needs heroes, huh? They can just do the good stuff. So find some people who can do both. That's the Suicide Squad alright. The story line builds up quicker and clearer than a certain other DC Comics movie that features a son of Krypton and a billionaire vigilante.

;-)

Will Smith's rugged acting, Margot Robbie's tension-defusing and also Cara as eye candy. Not to mention Jay being El Diablo and seeing Killer Croc on screen. The movie is one to watch.

I'll give an 8/10

On a much more depressing note, I've started my final year as a college student. That sentence alone pretty much says it all. I know, I'll miss it when I start working but everything's so hectic, it's insane. I feel like bashing my head through walls. Going back in the morning. I got some work to get done.

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: This week alone, 5 of my friends got married. One of them is my junior

Movie Review - Captain America: The Winter Soldier

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

Assalamu'alaikum, everybody!

I'm getting lazier and lazier..And..Lazier.  Needed some rest after the 2014 WTA BMW Malaysia Open finished.  I guess I'm gonna start from BEFORE that.  The tournament was actually from 14th-20th April but we gathered at KSJ on the 7th.  There were qualifying rounds and what not.  But let's save that for later ok?

Before we started with all the heavy lifting (literally), the 6 of us who were taking part as the court services crew, just thought of watching a movie.  Some of us have watched Need For Speed, some watched 300 and some watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Me? I haven't watched any of them.  So naturally I told them to choose a movie.  The Winter Soldier it was....

Chris Evans reprises his role as Captain Steve Rogers a.k.a Captain America.  Along with Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).  In this movie, the heroes face a somewhat 'sneak attack' from Hydra which included the use of the Captain's friend from the first movie, James Buchanan Barnes a.k.a Bucky as 'The Winter Soldier'.  After his drop from the train in the first movie, he lost his memory and Hydra used him to tear down S.H.I.E.L.D and also kill Fury and the other heroes.  Steve, being the guy that he is, of course tried to save Bucky from being Hydra's puppet.

This movie also introduced Marvel's Sam Wilson / Falcon character, played by Anthony Mackie (Real Steel, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter).  I gotta say though.  His character's kinda cool.  Haha!

The movie's awesome and I really think I'd watch it again if anybody asked.  Out of 10, I'd give this...

an 8/10

Don't ask what happened to the other 2.  Hehe.

Anywho, we had dinner since we watched the 5.30 show.  Here's the UTM representative of the WTA BMWMO2014 court services crew!

From left: Aji, myself, Faris, Ain, Cyda and Salihin

Don't ask what's wrong with us in the last picture.  Needless to say, we're all awkward like that.  Haha!!

Mind you, the 6 of us are part of UTMKL's tennis team and have been playing since we got there.  We still are and going strong! I'm just hoping that since I've finished my diploma, I get to see them again.

:'-(

In Sya-Allah.  Love these guys!!

More to come, In Sya-Allah.  I'll post some picts here when I can later.  I'm telling you, the 2 weeks we spent was exhausting and that's a ginormous understatement.  But hell, it was worth every second of it.

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: Otak dah meracau dah ni.  Sasau.  Ada solution but I don't think they'll like it though O___o"

Movie Review (with a Twist) - Thor: The Dark World

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum, y'all!!

Finally go the chance to see a movie.  It's the end of the semester break but hey, better late than never.

Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston return as Thor and Loki.  Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins reprise their role as Jane Foster and Odin, king of Asgard.  A few other stars also return in the movie to help Thor defeat an evil so treacherous that he needed his prisoner brother, Loki, to help him.

CGI-wise, Thor: The Dark World's great.  Every detail in every scene is captured amazingly.  The story's quite a drag if you ask me.  A bit typical.  Of course that was until Loki came into the picture to help Thor.  Like its predecessor, this one also has fight scenes but I'd like to think that they were much more filled with action which add to that sense of "what's gonna happen next?" vibe from the viewers.  To be honest, I liked Loki more Thor.  Yeah, he's a bad guy and tried to take the throne and wanted to destroy Earth but hey, that was in the past.  Time to move on now.

Haha!! His character has that way of raising the viewers' blood pressure but at the same time, you don't actually wanna kill him.  ( Hey that's just one man's opinion).

I give Thor: The Dark World.........

7/10

I thought of watching this alone since everybody's watched it already.  But I guess that was never meant to happen.  Haha!!  I finally met one of my blogger buddies, Liselle Moncherie, today after the Friday payers at the masjid near Subang Parade! I was quite excited which is one of the main reasons why we didn't take any pictures.  We talked and laughed and ended up watching a movie cos we didn't actually know what to do after lunch.

T_____T"

We just tweet and chat online but she's even awesome-er in person.  So why don't you guys swing by her blog riiiiight here.  She's great, an amazing person to know and just check her site out ok?

;-)

Well, this might be my last post before I go back to UTMKL this Sunday.  I'm not totally psyched about it but I AM stoked about it being my last semester doing my diploma.

XD

One more semester and I'll be getting my diploma in Electronic Engineering (In Sya-Allah)

Stay awesome, people!

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S:  Have you guys ever heard of YouTube Award-winning artist, Lindsey Stirling? Hehe

Movie Review - Monsters University and Despicable Me 2

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamu'alaikum, y'all!!

Pardon me for being M.I.A for 3 weeks.  I sorta made a vow to myself not to blog too much for my last year in UTM KL.  Been trying to get my grades up.  Studying hard.  I think.  But hey, I got lots of friends.  And lucky for me, these guys know how to blow off some steam......

For the past 2 weeks I watched 2 movies...............

Monsters Uni and Despicable Me 2.  I watched the trailers so I thought I'd watch the movie.

1. Monsters University

The story of how Mike Wazowski met James P. "Sully" Sullivan.  Funnily enough, like most friends, they meet in college.  A story of how Sully and Mike became friends and went to work at Monsters Inc., the same name of this movie's predecessor.  Mike enrols himself at Monsters University where he majors in "Scaring".  Despite his small size he tries to be a "scarer" and tries to fit in.

Being an amateur movie critic, I'd give this movie a 7.5/10.  It tells a good story where I can really relate, being a college guy and all but it's suppose to attract kids and I just think it lacks that a bit in the beginning.  For me, it just started to get interesting from the middle of the movie.  All in all though, good movie.

2. Despicable Me 2

Haaaaa.  I'm sure a lot of you remember Gru.  The evil villain-turn-good guy and father.  He leaves his villain background and turns to a legitimate businessman.  However, a virus comes along and the AVL (anti-villain league) dispatches him to handle it.  His spying skills and parenting abilities are tested.  With his "minions" and his adoptive daughters and also an AVL partner, he goes on a mission to save the world with whacky results and going through an even whackier process.

Even when I stepped into the cinema and watched this movie, I didn't stop laughing even when the credits started rolling.  Those minions are just too cute and funnayh!!  Haha!!  I'd give this a 10/10 rating.  It's just too much of a good movie to say "No" to.  I recommend all o' y'all watch it!!  Haha!!

Well, hope you guys go watch it.  And enjoy it!!

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: Ramadhan will be coming in a few days.  May Allah S.W.T ease my fellow Muslims' Ramadhan this year.  In Sya-Allah :-)

Olympus Has Fallen

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamu'alaikum, guys!

I got a plan cancelled today (Thursday).  It still didn't mean that I shouldn't have a good time and go out right?  So I just thought I'd go to Subang Parade.  Today is the FIRST time I've ever watched a movie ALONE.  I watched a movie that's been in a lot of my friends' mouth...........

Such a lame and depressing way to enjoy myself.  Watching a movie alone.  Pfffft..

Anyway, "Olympus Has Fallen" is an awesome movie and it's worth every penny.  An attack on the White House during a meeting between the US President [Aaron Eckhart (Battle: Los Angeles)] and the PM of South Korea makes the headlines as Mike Banning [Gerard Butler (300)], ex-secret service-turn-worker-at-the-national-treasurer, tries to save the president, who he personally body guarded 18 months before after an accident involving the first lady.

With betrayal, friendship, loyalty and patriotism being the key plots and themes, this fast-paced movie is bound to knock you guys off your seats.  Other stars like Rick Yune (The Fast and the Furious), Morgan Freeman (Dark Night Series) and Dylan McDermott (The Perks of Being a Wallflower), will make the movie even better.

To me though, Gerard Butler was amazing in it.  A real badass in the movie.  I think it's his best performance since "300".  One movie down, a lot more to go during my 2 month-break.

I also used another RM50 voucher of mine to buy this....

Waited quite a long time for this sequel to "Legend".  Can't wait to read it..

I guess things worked out for the best today.

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: Always look for the silver lining, people.

Remember The Psychomanteum?

In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful.

Assalamu'alaikum, everybody!!

Since I have no books to read yet and I think I'll start searching on some materials in a bit, I decided to watch this with some of my classmates since we shared the same floor..........

I didn't plan on watching it actually.  I just went to Apep and Fathi's room to copy some movies since I didn't have anything new to watch and kill some time.  Naqiu, Haziq and Asyuwad were also there and none of them watched the movie yet.  So I just thought, what the hey?  Let's watch!

Tom Felton (Malfoy from Harry Potter) stars in this supernatural thriller along with Ashley Greene from Friday The 13th and Julianna Guill from Twilight.

Being some sort of a 'virgin' to horror movies I'd say the movie was quite scary but not enough to make you scream though.  Movie-critic websites like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic said the movie isn't 'all that' and the rating were poor.  'The Apparition' has yet to be shown in some other countries though.  It may be able to save its rep and get some more money.

So, I got some new movies and I still have the new spirit intact.  I hope the latter stays forever.

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: My parents are babysitting Ariq today!!  So so very the jelly!!  >___<"

That's One Psychotic Mom

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum, everybody!!

Well, things have been hard lately.  A bit worrying.  On the bright side, I got to see one of the movies I've been waiting for..............

Hell yeah!!  It was downright scary and awesome!!  Haha!!

XD

It does have some downsides though.  For a chicken like me, it's friggin' insane for me to watch a horror movie.  To me, it was really scary.  I say that cos I don't watch horror movies that much.  Some reviews said that it was not all that.  They 'played it safe'.  Maybe so.  But I just love the ending of the movie.  It's crazy I'm telling you.

No use telling you guys here.  Go and watch it!  It will make you sleep with the light on for a few days.  Hehe..

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: Looking back at the past can be good..It can also be bad.  But old wounds are better left UNTOUCHED.

We Have A Movie To Catch

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

Assalamu'alaikum, y'all!!

Yeah, it's been a while since the last post aye?  Been a bit busy with the exams.  I'm taking 6 papers.  Currently, 4 down, 2 to go.  I have Electronics 1 on the 11th and Digital Electronics 2 on the 19th.  The last paper was English last Sunday so I have a 3 full-day study gap.  Some may think I'm a nerd (though, I don't like to see myself that way).  Au contraire, I just had to unwind from all the studying.  Plus, there was a huge gap.  So I did some catch up on some movies that have been out for a while but I just got to see them lately....

Crazily funny movie this one.  In my opinion, it's better than the 1st three.  It's got that icky family stuff, funny bone-tickling comedy and just a good movie to watch.

I laughed watching this from start to finish.  You have four zoo animals joining a circus.  You're bound to get absolute mayhem.  Eventhough I think that animated movies are getting more and more real, it won't actually be called 'cartoons' anymore.  Either way, this movie's worth watching especially Marty's 'Circus-Afro' moment.  Haha!!

FINALLY!!!!  The Raid is an AMAZING/AWESOME movie to watch for you adrenaline junkies.  A S.W.A.T team of 30 raiding a building full of killers and cons and drug dealers.  It's action-packed and will blow you off your seats.  I'm glad I got to watch this after THIS happened.  One thing I learned from this movie: NEVER do drugs.  I'm already hopeless in a fight.  I'll be suckish and slow if I sniff glue or do cocaine.

Well, that's it for now, guys.  Stay awesome!!

See you guys on the flip side!!

P.S: I'm gonna post my b'day wishlist on my next post ;-)

Movie Buff

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu'alaikum, everybody!!

I wanted to do this a post a long time ago but you know the gist.  I actually have a few movies that I really REALLY wanna watch.  Both that are now showing and coming soon.

The Expendables 2

Daaaaamn.  I seriously wanna watch this one.  I haven't heard any news about this movie though but it's gotta be awesome-er than the first one.  Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis are on it too as add-ons.  MUST WATCH!!

Ice Age 4: Continental Drift

I'm still a kid in some ways despite being in college.  It's cool that an animated movie can be so friggin' real and witty at once.  I saw the trailer few months ago.  I was like.... "HOLY CRAB!!" Haha!!  XD (Watch the trailer and then you'll get my point).

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

Another animated movie I wanna watch is this.  Me and Q saw the trailer and we just laughed our heads off when Marty did that 'Circus Afro' jig.

XD

Now, for movies that I really can't wait to see................

Paranormal Activity 4

I'm not really a fan of Horror movies but Paranormal Activity just grew on me.  I saw the 1st and 3rd.  The 2nd one I just watched it half-way.  I think it'll be coming out in October of this year.  I wonder who will watch it with me and belanja me as a present.  HMMMMM (hinthint)  Hehe...

The Raid

This Indonesian movie with a Western touch is said to be one of the best action movies of the decade.  It'll come out next month/September.  Though, I hope nothing will stop me when I wanna watch it.  At least nothing like THIS.

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters

From the Rick Riordan novel series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The sequel to 'The Lightning Thief', 'Sea of Monsters', will be released in August of 2013.  Nathan Fillion who stars as Rick Castle in the T.V series Castle will star as Hermes while the 3 protagonists are the same 3 who starred in the 1st adaptation of the novel series.  I hope they don't mess it up like the 1st one.

Well, I got class in half an hour.  Network and System, do be nice to me.  Please??

T_____T"

Gotta jet.  Stay awesome, people!!

See you guys on the flip side!!

Avengers Assemble!

Assalamualaikum, everybody!!

What do you get when a bunch of people form a group to protect the Earth from a massive and literally out-of-this-world army?

Hell yeah!!  Haha!  Just came back about an hour ago from the cinema in West India Quay.  It's the nearest cinema from the flat........

Considering it's a weekday, it wasn't surprising to see the cinema a bit empty.  Though, I think the tickets in Malaysia are better.............

It's just a piece of  paper
I watched it in 3D since my bro and his wife have 3D glasses of their own.  So I just thought, "Why not?"

'The Avengers' was awesome.  Marvel Studios assembled the superheroes that were already shown in movies.  Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark / Iron Man), Chris Evans (Steve Rogers / Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) returned as their superhero "alter egos".  Mark Rufallo stepped in as the 'new' Dr. Bruce Banner / Hulk.  Jeremy Renner was added to the movie as Clint Barton or better known in the Marvel Comics universe as Hawkeye.  Clark Gregg and Gwyneth Paltrow also made a return as Phil Coulson and Pepper Pots respectively.

And as usual, the creator of all these Marvel characters, Stan Lee, made his cameo appearance.  If you guys noticed, he's in all the movies of the Marvel Comics Universe.  Spider-man, Iron Man.  You name it.

In the movie, all of them group to form The Avengers and face Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who fancies on taking over the world after stealing the Tesseract, a powerful energy source.

To tell how the story goes, I guess I'll just ruin it for you guys.  It's a great movie with lots of action scenes and funny moments between the characters and you guys must see it!!  Haha!  If someone asked to go with me, I think I might just go and see it again.

XD

The Avengers would shout "Avengers Assemble!"  You know, as a battle cry.  But I think I wanna change it to tell you guys to go and watch it.

MOVIE GOERS ASSEMBLE!!

Fight...For..Your..Freedom!!

Assalamualaikum, everyone!!

Well a little rant in the morning on my " board" here.  Yesterday I saw this movie on its premiere day....

I finally got to see it.  Greek mythology and war are 2 elements to a good movie that has fighting.  To me that is.  This story has Luke Evans as Theseus, a peasant turn warrior.  Evans was in The Clash of the Titans as the sun god Apollo but that was just a minor role.  He starred as the main character and he was pretty good in this one.  Mickey Rourke was the main bad guy/antagonist as King Hyperion.  He seeks the Enpirius Bow, a magical bow where an arrow appears when you pull the..."string" of the bow.  Hehe.  All in all  it was a great movie.  I think it would be better in 3-D though.  The fight scenes were epic.  Since the movie from the directors (or producers) of the movie 300, that's not really a surprise.

Anyway, I've been falling and getting up, falling and getting up.  It's driving me down a cliff.  I'm effing sick and tired of feeling like this.  Why can't a minotaur come to me and just put me out of my misery?  Can't I just roll down and fall asleep without any worries?  Just nothing to worry about and just music both punk rock and soft to ears.  Is that so hard?

*Digs my grave and sets the shovel aside*

I'll jump in as soon as there is someone who can do me a big favour.  Maybe theses guys can.....

Yeah.  If only I was that lucky and find that too
Well.  I think I gtg.  Much to be done.  And more to be sorted out.

See you guys on the  flip side!!

Are You Ready...For Real Steel?!!

Assalamualaikum, everyone!!
Ok.  Monday was my first driving class.  It was ok I guess considering I didn't fall asleep.  Haha!  It was quite fun actually.  I couldn't stop laughing cos we all couldn't stop making crazy jokes.  And our instructors were insanely hilarious.  It was like they had too much caffeine in their system and too much water in their heads.  Haha!!

XD

I hope nothing like this will happen when I take the test though....

I think I will be banned from any driving school in the country.  Hell, I'll be banned from driving even.  Haha!!  But honestly, I can't wait to get my license.  I'm tired of walking long distance from one place to another.  Maybe I'll pass the test easily Insya-Allah :-)

Anywho....Movie review time........

*Drum roll*

FINALLY...I saw the movie at Time Square and GSC Maxx is ginormously huge.  As if ginormous doesn't show how big it is.

From left: Petey, Miz, Wafi

The movie was EPIC.  Set in 2020 where boxing is a sport controlled by man but fought with robots.  People want more blood and violence.  So human boxing fads, robot boxing surfaces.  Hugh Jackman stars in this movie as a robot boxing guy who just can't get the money he needs.  That is until his son, acted by Dakota Goyo, who is a robot boxing fan came along.  What happens next? That's all you guys' work.  Hehe..But it is a must movie for 2011.  It is LEGEN (wait for it) DARY.  Hell yeah, man!

Well.  I got work in the morning.  So I guess I gotta hit the sack now.

See you guys on the flip side!!
